CAT 6 is a standard for Gigabit Ethernet and other network products. Defined in TIA/EIA 568-B, RJ45, 22-24AWG, providing up to 250MHz, more than double CAT5 and CAT5e and suitable for 10BASE-T, 100BASE-TX, 1000BASE-T and 1000BASE-TX. CAT 6 features more stringent specification for crosstalk and system noise and contains four pairs of copper wires providing high speed performance and backwards compatibility with CAT 5.
